Looks like you need to add an entry for the 650 in the devices.xml
file that comes with gnome-pilot.

Take a look in /usr/share/gnome-pilot/devices.xml
and add a line:
        <!-- PalmOne Treo 650 -->
        <device vendor_id="0830" product_id="0061" />
