Hi-
I regularly use gnome-pilot to sync my Palm 515 to my RH9 linux box
(albeit under KDE). This is the stock 0.1.xx version that comes with
RH9.
However, about 1/3 of the time it sticks at the message 'Connecting with
the desktop using cable/cradle'. This isn't too bad; I can 'cancel' and
then try again.
Another 1/3 of the time or so, however, it gets to the next stage,
determining the username (I can't remember the specific message on the
palm screen and I don't have it all in front of me). But this sends the
machine into a mode of disk thrashing for about 5 minutes where it's
essentially impossible to do anything else: the mouse doesn't move, I
can't ctrl-alt-Fn? to get to the console, nothing. Usually, this ends up
killing the gpilotd process.
This happens if I use gpilot-install-file or if I just sync.
However, direct use of pilot-xfer for file installation works
perfectly, always.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance, etc.
Andrew
