Mh. It is solved now, but the solution was very rude.
Obviously, some things were messed up in my ~/.gconf/-tree, causing
several apps to behave strange. After googeling some time I decided to
start as a new user on the system, since none of the solutions I found
changed anything. Of course I had to reconfigure several apps - but now
they work. Only the gpilotd-timing problem remains, but it would have
made me wonder if that was a configuration problem.
And I found that a theme called "6nome" I was using caused Jamie's
evolution-1.4.5 (and maybe other versions, too) to crash as soon as I
switched to calendar view. Setting the controls style to another theme
all was fine. Don't know whether this is a problem in evo or in that set
of arts. Anyway, there's more nice themes out there.
Until soon.
Regards
Lars
