Syncing with a Treo 300

I have yet to get this to work.

Treo 300.  Palm OS 3.5.2H6.3  RH8, soon to be upgraded.

Works fine on the Windows box with Palm desktop.

I am using the standard USB cable/charger that came with the Treo.

Everytime I try different settings the sync never progresses and I have
to reset the phone.  I have yet to find any source on the way to get
this device to sync in Linux.
