gnome-pilot 0.1.65: error though fixing configure

hy,

on july, 31 mike musson and brett thomas had a discussion about how to
properly build gnome-pilot-0.1.65 with the ximian patch applied.

according to brett's posting i have tried to build gnome-pilot-0.1.65
myself (linux newbie). that's what i have done (in the following order):

- got pilot-link-0.11.3.tar.bz2 from www.pilot-link.org
- got gnome-pilot-0.1.65.tar.gz from ftp.gnome.org
- got gnome-pilot.patch from primates.ximian.com/~jpr/
- compiled sucessfully pilot-link ("./configure", "make", "make
install", "pilot-xfer -p /dev/ttyUSB1 -L" works)
- extracted gnome-pilot
- corrected gnome-pilot's configure (replaced "-lpisock" with "-lpisync
-lpisock")
- applied gnome-pilot.patch (patch -p0 < gnome-pilot.patch) in the
gnome-pilot directory
- run "./configure" which finished without errors but displaying at the
end "pilot-link: .." (where there - i guess - should be "pilot-link:
0.11.3")
- run "make" which terminates with following error:

--snip---
pilot.c:33:27: applet-widget.h: file or directory not found
make[2]: *** [pilot.o] error 1
make[2]: exiting directory >>/root/gnome-pilot-0.1.65/applet<<
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] error 1
make[1]: exiting directory >>/root/gnome-pilot-0.1.65<<
make: *** [all-recursive-am] error 2
---snap---

so how am i gonna build gnome-pilot correctly? system is redhat 7.3
