pilot-link config fails to mkdir basedir

The gnome-pilot capplet fails to make the basedir when a pilot is
configured. I configured adding that to gpilotd-control-applet.c but i
couldn't decide what is the right action to take when it is impossible to
make the directory (bad path, noaccess, etc). Should we just remove the
pilot altogether ? (bad) or revert to a default dir (bad) ? or something
else ?
cheers
