I take it you have a working X session between the two boxes, ie. if you 
telnet to the headless box from the desktop and run xeyes it will popup on your
desktop. in that case i can't think of a reason why gnomecc won't come up. 
A log with the errors would be helpfull.

shouldn't need. you should be able to use xapps from the headless box though.

In desperation, all config files are text. you can just make up a gnome-pilotd/
by hand on the headless box.

Mind you, gpilotd wants a DISPLAY. I'm not sure about how to get around this but
now that you bring this up, it make a lot of sense. as far as i can remember now
gpilotd only wants X to popup anyoing errors :)
