problem sync'ing with gnome-pim

Hope this is appropriate for this list, and not gnome-pim-list...

I'm currently running gnome-pim 1.1.3.  I cannot seem to get gncal (or
gcard for that matter) to sync with my Palm.  Has anyone got this
combination working:

gnome-core 1.1.3
gnome-pim 1.1.3
gnome-pilot 0.1.48
pilot-link 0.9.3

PalmIIIx, PalmOS 3.3

I'm not having any problems with the other conduits.  What can I do to 
debug these problems?
