Ok made the change and started with a clean configure here is what I am getting now.
checking whether NLS is requested... no
checking for for existance of /usr/local/pilot/lib/libpisock.so... yes
checking for glib-config... /usr/local/bin/glib-config
checking for GLIB - version >= 1.2.0... yes
checking for pi_accept in -lpisock... no
configure: error: Unable to find libpisock. Try ftp://ryeham.ee.ryerson.ca/pub/PalmOS/.
