Have you ever used Crystal Reports? In my opinion, that is really what
we should be aiming towards, and that is far closer to AbiWord than it
is to Gnumeric.
The column-like layout would not be hard to achieve with a few clever
text boxes, and you could easily create a 'to Gnumeric' conversion for
the output so you could plug your report into some Gnumeric graphs.
