gnome 2.2 and gstreamer

Hi
gnome sound recorder uses gstreamer now. If totem will use it too and
xmms will have a gstreamer plugin, will this allow all of them to play
sound at the same time?
Do gnome sound events use gstreamer too? I know there was a patch before
gnome 2.0 which ported it to gstreamer, but was it checked in?
