Hi Craig,
I see your point. I've looked newest branch that is using GTK+2,
because compiling the newest Version of GTK+3 would be to complicated
for just a small tutorial. The version the git master needs is not any
repository as far as I know.
If you have an idea to get around this barrier, let me know.

Efforts to produce good documentation are appreciated, but I'm not sure
guiding developers towards a branch (gnome-2-30) that is in maintenance
mode is a good idea. Guide developers how to help with the current
(gnome 3.0) version.
