Hey I'm also looking for a way to start. I tried engagin in gedit as
pointed by the newcom mers guide, some time ago, but as I didn't have
much experience with gtk and gobject I couldn't help with the bugs I
found.
It would be great if someone from a project could point bugs and give
some support while I investigate them.

And if you want to see some code you could take a look at gnome-games.
We use c, c++, scheme and python for the different games. If you are
looking for a project to contribute to in one of those languages I
would be happy to help you get started and suggest some bugs or
features to start with.

Hello friends, I'm a new member of the GNOME-love mailing list, but I
was looking and cannot find about what languages that GNOME use,
someone can help me?
... and in case you meant computer languages, it mainly uses C, but
there's bindings located here: http://developer.gnome.org/arch/lang/
