It's rather unintuitive, and I'd say the lack of an option to force
jhbuild to rebuild tarball modules is a bug (namely
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=145546). To get jhbuild to
rebuild a tarball module right now, you need to edit
$prefix/share/jhbuild/packagedb.xml (or some file with a similar name,
I'm going from memory here) and remove the line for the package you
want rebuilt.
