Hi, [Please try to not top-post, as it makes reading mail slightly annoying] On Sat, 2004-07-31 at 23:06 +0200, Jaap Haitsma wrote:
Doesn't this whole discussion we're having indicate that a continuous build (a tinderbox) of GNOME with a webpage indicating if the build succeeded would be highly useful. You can even make it like this that the person who broke the build with a checkin gets an email. See for example: http://tinderbox.mozilla.org/showbuilds.cgi?tree=SeaMonkey
Note that the fact that there is currently no tinderbox is not due to someone having decided at any point in the past that it was not desirable nor needed. It's just an item on the ever long and ever lengthening global To Do list. It needs to be done. It should not be difficult to set up a box to periodically compile the whole of gnome. That's very well understood, I guess, by now. One does need to satisfy the hardware needs (and some logic, but as noted earlier by Elijah, jhbuild already has tinderboxy logic built-in) Importantly, it should be noted that anyone having the resources can start this—maybe even you. There is no need for these to be done ‘officially’ (whatever that may mean).
jhbuild seems to have a tinderbox option
