That extension restores the gnome-2 look-and-feel, thank you for the
info. Wonder when it will be available in Debian (and in main in due
time). 

What about the netspeed applet under gnome shell?
And is there a 2D fallback, for those graphic cards and OSes not
supporting 3D?
