Annotate PDF in Evince: Highlight text

I am using Evince 2.32 with Poppler 0.16.4. Although I can add text
annotations to a PDF file, I cannot add a Highlight annotation. I
cannot find any info online suggesting when the Highlight feature will
become available. Does any one know? Can someone provide a link?
