AC Power button power management preferences

My apologies if this is the wrong place to ask this, but hopefully one
of you can direct me to the right place to ask.

Can anybody tell me why the options listed for "When the power button
is pressed" in gnome-power-preferences don't include "shut down".

Specifically, they don't include "Shut down" on my Ubuntu 9.10
(actually, a Mythbuntu 9.10) box, if that tells you anything about
what version of Gnome I'm using.

>From the trail of breadcrumbs I've been following, it seems that
Ubuntu changed from using HAL for power management to using
DeviceKit-Power when 9.10 was released.  It also seems as though
DeviceKit-Power moved the handling of shutdown commands into
ConsoleKit.  (Not that I really understand what I'm saying here, but
this is what I've read).

I'm confused because /etc/acpi/powerbtn.sh on my box has the following:

if pidof gnome-power-manager kded4 dalston-power-applet
xfce4-power-manager > /dev/null; then
    exit
fi

This make me think that gnome-power-manager (which is running on my
box) is probably supposed to be responsible for shutting things down
(nicely, gracefully, carefully asking the user, etc...) when the power
button is pressed.
