from /home/yourname/$

You will need to issue the command ls -la
Oh, and maybe do a ls -la Desktop as well,

from this listing you can see which one is the link, probably only a
soft link.
Then you can rm softlink, or whatever its name is.

The distro might localize directory names (e.g. Ubuntu does this), so it might not be Desktop, but something else.
