Well ... that "almost" worked.  It did cause a directory, ".Desktop" to be created in my home directory.  However, I still have a directory, "Desktop" which gets created also in my home directory.  I have removed it and it gets created again when I log in again.  What else do I need to do?

Back to the drawing board.  Let's keep working on this, please.  I just know there has to be a way.
