Gnome deletes socket in /tmp/.ICE-unix

I have fedora core 2 on two machines, and updates from
fedora core tips and tricks page(through apt-get)

Why does gnome keep deleting it's socket in
/tmp/.ICE-unix?  I have to chown root.root it after
logging in as a user just to prevent it.
