file chooser path field

Hi

just upgraded to 2.6.1 from 2.4.1... very nice... i'm falling in love
with gnome all over again.

i love the new file chooser. one thing i do miss is the ability to enter
the file name i want to open in a text field. basically i used to open a
file in, for example gedit, and just enter something in the name field
like /etc/profile and it would open the file without needing to navigate
through the directories.

the field is still there for saving (its obviously a must in this case),
but gone for opening files. i'm hoping its a setting a can change in
gconf or something.

any suggestions would be most appreciated.
