Gnome 2.4 Installation help...

Ok. I'm stuck. I'm attempting to upgrade my desktop. I'm following the
installation instructions for gnome 2.4 at
http://www.gnome.org/start/2.4/notes/rninstallation.html . Good stuff.
Ton of work, but I'm learning a lot as I go. Everything is going
peachy. Until I get to libgnome2.4. When I do a 'make', I get the
following error...

Google can't tell me much... am I missing a library? How do I
troubleshoot this? I'm not a C expert.
