All gnome-terminal windows are managed by the same process (this is very
good resource-wise, for example...) Of course, this has the consequence
that if `one' of them dies, they all go down with it. [*]
I hope you did file a bug with information about that crash in
http://bugzilla.gnome.org, so that we can fix it.

[*] Note that if you really want to have several gnome-terminal
processes, you can run gnome-terminal with its --disable-factory command
line option.
