Hi, Havoc,

I'm running RedHat 9 (vte has version vte-0.10.25-1). But now, using

        LANG=de_DE.ISO88591 gnome-terminal --disable-factory

produces exactly the same results as above (if typing umlauts):

        ** (gnome-terminal:24532): WARNING **: Error (Invalid or
        incomplete multibyte or wide character) converting data for child, dropping.
