Got my Gnome 2.2.0 working - but want to change menus...

Ok...I've jumped through hoops and compiled, configured and installed my
brains out - now that I have a working Gnome 2.2.0 desktop - along with
most of my apps and the likes (AND the neato-keen transparency for my
panels) - I would like to being to make modifications to my menus and
menu structures...now I dug and dug as far as I know how to dig, but
can't for the life of me figure out how to get anywhere - any secrets
that I'm supposed to know about? MIND YOU, it's RH 7.3 and I've already
tried some of the RH 8.0 tricks, but no go...

(BTW, I had to constantly delete my ~/home/username/.fonts.cache in
order to get most of the common applications working properly with a
proper font - so I ended up creating a blank file and doing a +r -w on
it so that it couldn't be written to...strange, ay?)

Cheers!
