Those are pretty much the only good way.  RedHat9 comes pre-installed
with GNOME 2.2.   GNNOME 2.4 isn't out yet.

You might be able to find some packages online, but from personal
experience I've found most third-party package sets online tend to be
horribly unstable and/or poorly built.  Especially on RedHat, you
probably want to retain all the redhat-specific patches/changes.

I'd recommend upgrading to Redhat9, it's fairly painless using the CDs
or apt-get (if you follow the instructions).
