desktop pager...

Where in my .gnome dir can I manually change the 
number of workspaces on my desktop pager.  I can't 
do it via the control center because everytime I 
go to click on workspaces under 'sawfish window 
manager' the control center just hangs until I 
kill it.

I'm using gnome 1.4 on solaris 8.  Thanks in advance.
