alt key

I'm trying to use maya under gnome2 using metacity, but In maya you use alt + 
mouse to move your object around.  The problem is alt+mouse is causing the 
window to either move or resize.  How do i disable this.  I didn't see this 
option under under metacity's shortcuts.
