On RedHat simply install the caching nameserver rpm and start the named 
service.  If your on a WAN it can be a pleasent performance kick anyway.

Also make you have nscd (the name service cache daemon) installed and 
running.

Put your local hostname in /etc/hosts if you have a static IP.
