Weird Solaris behavior...

I've got the unsupported 1.4 version running on Solaris 8.

I can login as root to the GNOME desktop, but if I try to so

as a regular user I get an error message telling me that

the "Current Depth" of the graphics card is 8+24 and it

needs to be 24.

The message gives commands to try to make this happen

but I haven't had any luck with them.

Anybody else had a similar problem?

I'm running on an Ultra 5 if that helps.
