BSOG (Blue Screen Of Gnome), I can't stand it anymore

How can I stop Gnome from putting that %$*³# blue screen at start.
I tried very hard and found out a couple of time, but with every release it 
comes back.

I didn't switch to Linux to see blue screens.
I like chbg and want to see what it puts on my desktop, and nothing else.
Is it a problem ?
Does gnome wants to rule my desktop ?

Put this bg -root screen out pleeeaaaaase.
