metacity slow to start

this one is probably aimed more at Havoc than anyone else, but please
feel free to help.

I have changed my window manager from sawfish to metacity, by editing
the window manager in the gconf-editor, logged back out and then back in
again, but on the loading screen when it starts to load metacity, it
just sits there for about 15 seconds and then goes into the desktop, at
this point metacity has loaded and works fine, but why the slowdown on
loading when logging in?

I cannot find any errors in the logs for this at all (if there should be
any and if this is an actual error).
