Re: installing gnome for first time

I recommend compiling gnome2 with Garnome. It takes care of all the
dependencies and automatically downloads and compiles necessary
packages.
This is the easiest way to try a 'self-compiled' gnome2 desktop, unless
you want to try to compile directly from CVS.
