In meanwhile I filed a bug at bugzilla because it is
libpixbufloader-tiff the causes the problem. For some unknown reason
(perhaps I had libtiff-3.5.5 and now libtif-3.5.7 installed) the loader
for tif files already seg-faults during testing. Thus nautilus
seg-faults as well as gthumb and eog. Whereas gnome1 applications with
the respective libpixbufloader-tiff works fine, also 'xv'.

Perhaps I have to switch back to libtiff-3.5.4

Best regards,
Klaus
