headache with a manual Makefile

Hi.. I am mentally tormenting myself by trying to take advantage of some
glade-2 generated GUI while trying to keep things simple and using a
hand written Makefile (help obtained in order to use the vte widget
properly ;).

However.. now I am getting errors like:
undefined reference to `gnome_app_new'
undefined reference to `gnome_app_get_type'
undefined reference to `gnome_app_set_contents'

Are these just referencing glade generated functions which I need to
recover from my glade generated source?
Or are they core gnome functions which I need to refer to somehow in my
Makefile?
If the latter, can anyone suggest ideas?
