I just did a Ximian Redcarpet update. It informed me that I needed to
remove xscreensaver-gl by hand before it could do whatever updates it
had planned. I did this, and also removed the standard Ximian
screensaver package, thinking it couldn't hurt to just reinstall the
screen savers from scratch. Now xscreensaver is not even appearing in my
list of packages to install when using Redcarpet.
How do I get the Ximian version of the xscreensavers back via Redcarpet?
I can no longer find a place on their website to download individual
packages.
If you just let it update every package, that last group included an
update to X-Screensaver. I think they've just wrapped it all up into
one single package again, which probably makes more sense - but it was
rather confusing to see that "must remove xscreensaver-gl" note. But if
it's not installed on your computer,
If for some reason it isn't installed any more, the first place to look
is your /var/cache/redcarpet/packages directory. The RPMs are usually
kept in there after they are installed. If it's not there, go to
ftp.ximian.com and find the directory that has the individual RPMs (I
don't remember the path off-hand).
