gmc comming back from the dead

It works, but cannot be killed.  It keeps returning, even after I have
killalled it.  In fact, "for i in 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8; do killall plain-gmc;
done" sometimes works the second time....once after a minute or so it
still was reborn.  This is just wierd, but it seems to work (well, it
doesn't know what icons to display on the desktop...).
