I have just tried to compile gnumeric-0.7.2 on a RH-6.1 system,
using the
tarball. Gnumeric says it needs libole2 >= 0.2.3. So I went
and got that,
configured, made, and installed. Retrying the configure for
gnumeric, it
still complains:
checking for libole2 >= 0.2.3 ... <FAIL> not found
configure: error: This version of gnumeric requires an external
libole2 library the latest version can be obtained from
ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/unstable/sources/libole2/
So I checked in /usr/local/lib, and what I have there looks like
this:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 189046 Oct 23 18:59
/usr/local/lib/libgnomeole2.a
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 776 Oct 23 18:59
/usr/local/lib/libgnomeole2.la
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 Oct 23 18:59
/usr/local/lib/libgnomeole2.so -> libgnomeole2.so.0.0.0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 Oct 23 18:59
/usr/local/lib/libgnomeole2.so.0 -> libgnomeole2.so.0.0.0
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 150464 Oct 23 18:59
/usr/local/lib/libgnomeole2.so.0.0.0
I know this sounds like a real newbie question, but do I simply
need to link
(symlink) libgnomeole2.so.0.0.0 to libole2.so.0.2.3? Or have I
missed something
even more obvious?
Your help will be greatly appreciated --
