Kde menus in gnome panel

Sorry about this newbie question but when compiling gnome-core and
gnome-libs how do i get it to find the kde apps? I have tried the "kde root
directory" which in my case is /opt/kde2 but without success. Which
directory is the "kde datadir"?
I would be greatful of any help
