GDM 2.0.95/96 problem

When I install GDM 2.0.95 or 2.0.96, I can't login to my sessions.
After entering my user name and password, I get an error message "You have
old mail in ..." and I can't do anything anymore.
Does anyone know what this is and what I should do about it?
