I don't know if this has already been posted by someone else as my
mail server seems to have been a bit out of whack over the last days.
In this case, it won't hurt if I post it again. This is Europe's
largest Linux event! And then there's the matter of a booth, too. Who
of last year's crew would go there again?]

		    Call for Papers LinuxTag 2001
     Exhibition- and Congress Center Stuttgart · 5.7.- 8.7. 2001

LinuxTag 2000 was the largest Linux exhibition in Europe, having more
than 17000 visitors. The event has addressed a large audience using
Linux privately, in education or for commercial purposes. During
LinuxTag 2001, there will be both the exhibition and public talks from
friday to sunday. As in the year before, the entrance to both
exhibition and the public talks are free of charge. This CfP addresses
speakers interested in giving such a talk (about one hour in length). 

Any subject around Unix and Linux, in particular from a user's point
of view, is interesting, e.g.: 

   Introduction into Unix/Linux

   Presentation of program packages; illustration of their use
   and configuration

   Reports about practical use of Linux

   Presentation of distributions and concepts that 
   are relevant for users

   Systemadministration

   Introduction to scripting languages

   Aspects of programming under GNU/Linux

The list of the public talks from LinuxTag 2000
(http://www.linuxtag.org/2000/) may serve as an inspiration. 

Those being chosen to give a public talk, provide a written paper to
their talk, licensed under the Open Content License. These papers are
first published on the LinuxTag CDROM and later on on the web, and
possibly in journals/newspapers. Those being chosen to give a talk
will be paid the expenses for travel and accomodation. 

A short summary of the talk is to be sent in via the form at

the LinuxTag program committee.

Der LinuxTag war im Jahr 2000 mit über 17000 Besuchern die größte
Linuxmesse Europas. Die Veranstaltung wendet sich an ein breites
Publikum, das Linux im Privat-, Ausbildungs- und Geschäftsbereich
einsetzen möchte. Während des LinuxTags 2001 finden an den
Veranstaltungstagen Freitag bis Sonntag ein Vortragsprogramm und eine
Ausstellung statt. Wie im Vorjahr wird von den Besuchern kein Eintritt
verlangt. Dieses CfP richtet sich an Referenten, die einen
ca. 60-minütigen Vortrag im Rahmen des kostenfreien Vortragsprogramms
halten möchten.

Alle Themen rund um Unix und Linux, insbesondere aus Sicht der
Anwender, sind interessant, z.B.: 

	  Einführungen zu Unix/Linux

	  Vorstellung von Programmpaketen, Erläuterung ihrer
	  Einsatzgebiete und Konfiguration

	  Erfahrungsberichte des Einsatzes von Linux in der Praxis

	  Vorstellung von Distributionen oder Konzepten, die für 
	  Anwender relevant sind

	  Systemadministration

	  Einführung in Skriptsprachen

	  Aspekte der Programmierung unter GNU/Linux

Das Vortragsprogrogramm des LinuxTag 2000
(http://www.linuxtag.org/2000/) mag als Anregung dienen. 

Die ausgewählten Referenten geben einen schriftlichen Beitrag zu dem
Vortrag ab, dieser Beitrag wird unter der Open Content License
stehen. Diese Papers werden zuerst auf der LinuxTag-CD und später im
WWW und gegebenenfalls in Fachzeitschriften bzw. Informationsschriften
veröffentlicht. Den ausgewählten Referenten werden Anfahrt und
Übernachtung erstattet. 

Eine kurze Zusammenfassung des Vortrags ist unter
http://www.linuxtag.org/cfp/ abzugeben. Diese dient als Grundlage für
die Auswahl der Vorträge, die vom LinuxTag Programmkomitee vorgenommen
wird.
