mouse wheel in Gtk+/Gnome

I know this one is off-topic, but it IS related to Gnome... ;-)

After updating to XFree86 4.0.2 (from 3.x.x), the wheel of my Logitech
serial wheel mouse has ceased to work in GTK+/Gnome windows, even though I
use the same setting in my XF86Config as before.

Apart from that, everything (both XFree86 and mouse) works fine.

What settings does a Logitech serail wheel mouse need? Any help will be
appreciated!
