Resizing for different resolutions

I've installed RH 7.0 with two resolutions to pick from, 1024x768 and
800x600.   When Gnome comes up with the default 1024x res, all is well,
but if I select 800x res, Gnome doesn't automatically resize itself to
fit the new screen size.   Is there a way I can do this or is it a bug?
