Re: gdm: first login fails, second one suceeds: why?

After writing my reply, I spooped around and found the following items
in my home directory: (hope this is on point)

lrwxrwxrwx    1 john     john           36 Sep 27 23:40 .DCOPserver_CV150607-A -> /home/john/.DCOPserver_CV150607-A_:0
lrwxrwxrwx    1 john     john           31 Dec 11 23:14 .DCOPserver_Verdi -> /home/john/.DCOPserver_Verdi_:0

I changed the name of my machine over the weekend from CV150607-A, which
was required by my old ISP (@home), a static IP service, which required
a this machine name,` to Verdi, since my new (Optimum Online) ISP is
DHCP and doesn't care about machine name.
