Thanks
+ autoconf
./aclocal.m4:1672: error: m4_defn: undefined macro: _m4_divert_diversion
acfunctions.m4:330: AM_FUNC_ERROR_AT_LINE is expanded from...
./aclocal.m4:1672: the top level
Did you searched the archives of this list ? This question have been answered many times. Don't use autoconf 2.52
I use keywords /autoconf/0.52/divert/aclocal/FUNC/ and others and
nothing about are retrivied.
Other question is if gnome 1.4 will work with this autoconf?
No the autoconf 2.52 do define some macros that was before defined by automake (the lack was in autoconf). The problem come from the
fact that these macros are expanded twice and the error you got is the autoconf detection of this problem.
An utility have been provided for upgrading (autoupdate), but it seems to not be as efficient as needed.
You should really downgrade to autoconf 2.50
Good luck
