I have the same problem with other applications.
Any suggestions? I deleted .XAuthority in ~/ and /root --- no change. thanks
Type this into the terminal first:
xhost + local:
This will allow anyone on the local machine access to the X display.
I think you can also solve that using xauth. Just check the man page,
there are some examples.
