Re: gdm auto login. How do I turn it off?

I did the 'update-rc.d -f gdm remove', it took care of the auto-logon, unfortunately, know I get "Authentication Failed!" when I try to login with my normal user. The password is most definitely correct, anyone have any ideas?

I had the same problem and I solved it in one of two ways, either by
removing the startup links with 'update-rc.d -f xdm remove' (as root) or
my editing the /etc/init.d/xdm script and putting

exit 0
on a line by itself near the top of the script, right after the shell
invocation. Both methods will work.

oops, edit the gdm script not xdm... typo sorry
