Keyboard configuration

Hi!

I have problems configuring the keyboard for latinamerican
distribution. When I choose the option in the Mandrake Control Center
it works fine in a console. But in X, I can´t put @ or \ or ~. 
I´m using Mandrake 8.0/Gnome
