Help with GDM

I have a very strange problem with GDM.

I have up until now been using KDM on my laptop, because
I like the ability to shutdown from it, and everything works
fine.

However I wanted to change over to GDM. I nstalled it and
everthing was fine, until I went to work and put my laptop
on my docking station. For some reason the keyboard would
not work, but the mouse would. Changing back to KDM, everything
was fine and I could log in and work normally.

Has anyone seen this before ? It has me completely stumped.
